A few of those players should be disqualified from the running of pick-up of the year. It shouldn't count if that player only produced while on the free agent market and then was picked up. It should only count if that player produced for your team and improved your team significantly. Just my opinion. Kurt you still suck

Here we go again.

Let me take you through this trade.

So earlier in the day I logged in to check out the league like normal and I see that Stein had put Mark Texeira on the trading block. NIce, I thought. And like I normally do when attempting to do a trade, I went to the other guys team to see what positions they need. Stein had already indicated on the trading block that he was in need of SP and RP, and after looking at his pitching (which I suggest you do to understand), it was apparent that his need for both was justified. Besides Ubaldo its not too pretty. Fair enough, with my pitching being very strong I initially offered Haren and Franklin for Tex. After that I was countered with Jaime Garcia, instead of Haren, and Franklin. I then countered with Penny, Garcia and Franklin acknowledging the fact that he needed more for dealing his first pick. And that's how it went down.

Stein got the players he wanted PLUS another pitcher, all of whom are very solid, Dave Duncan students, the guy makes pitchers good its a fact. So what if I didn't draft them. Let me think of some other players who weren't drafted in our leagues since we started playing in 08. Evan Longoria, Josh Hamilton, Ben Zobrist, Aaron Hill, Tommy Hanson etc. I'm willing to bet that those 2 starters get 15 wins +/- 2, with solid low periphal stats, along with 35-45 saves. Not bad for a team with Matt Guerrier in the RP slot and a starter named, Tim Stauffer ???? Not to mention the fact that Stein already has Miguel Cabrera for a 1B.

In my opinion the value of the trade is completely fair and might even favor Stein slightly. If people don't see it that way it's probably because they're basing it off pre season ranks value versus actual season value. Trades aren't always big name for big name, and sometimes a team needs to fill a position.

So before we all jump on me now for the third time look at the facts of the trade, look at the numbers. It's a fair trade and instead of tagging me as 'shady' look at what I initially offered and also look at the fact that I offered another player when I didn't have to.

Put it all together and you'll see there is nothing unfair or shady about this trade at all.

And quit picking on me.

Brad Penny=average at best even with the cards run support

Ryan Franklin=average closer who at any time could implode due to his dinosaur age and average stuff. he doesn't exactly mow em down. Closers are so overrated especially when they aren't the high K type. Even so he is the best of this shit-pile you call a trade offer.

Jaime Garcia=NL Rookie of the........month. Talk about selling a guy high after a hot start. Could be good, won't be great...he's a rookie. Wouldn't be surprised if the Phillies light him up this week. Teams have never seen him, but they will adjust. He's a nice grab off the wire no doubt, but again another ho hum addition to the trade.

All in all quantity does not replace quality my friend. Stein could probably pick up and or stream serviceable pitching numbers albeit saves and even then who knows. Even with pitching myagi duncan this trade is horseshit at its finest so far. Don't try and defend the trade, just say you raped stein....fag. We should refer to you as Scott "ballgagging" Borassholes from now on!

I love to hear you guys bitch and whine so much. I especially like Jakes attempt to knock the trade by using opinion over fact as well as resorting to name-calling, way to look like an idiot. Calling me a fag doesn't do anything for trying to prove a point.

With that said let me refer back to my previous post.

You guys want to keep discrediting Penny and Garcia and while I feel like it will take more than a few messages on here to dissuade you, I will once again remind you that you are basing your thoughts and opinions around the fact that they were picked up from FA. And while it was entertaining listening to you try and present an argument based on the a bunch of heresay I still stand firm to my that based on the numbers and facts, these two starters will have great years.

I shouldn't have to delve into this so much but I will anyway. Jaime Garcia was an ace prospect a couple of years ago, he he's always had the stuff to put up the numbers he has so far this year but this path was derailed by the fact that he destoyed his arm and had TommyJohn surgery and as we all know it takes time to recover. That mixed with the fact that rookie pitchers get forgotten about if they don't come out and make an impact right away, it's easy to see why you guys would want to discredit him, although, once again you guys are discrediting him based on your opinions which we all know don't hold any weight. Opinions are like assholes, everyone's got one. Then there's Brad Penny. This is even easier to defend. If you look at Penny's career you will see that he has put up good seasons and strong numbers before. Sure he hasn't been so hot the last couple of years but it's not like 48 and retiring anytime soon, he still has plenty left. So you take the proof that he has had talent in the past and you mix it with the fact that he's in the perfect situation in STL having Dave Duncan as a pitching coach and he's not sounding so bad anymore. I will refer you to very similar if not almost identical stories about 2 other STL pitchers. Chris Carpenter and Joel Piniero. Chris Carpenter was a beast early in his career and then he fell off, going into last years draft, I didn't even know who the guy was, now look at him. Then look at Joel Piniero. This guy never even had a respectable season and look what Dave Duncan was able to turn him into. If you look at the numbers from last year, you'll see what I'm talking about. Yet you guys will sit here and say oh he sucks, he's from waivers blah blah blah, so the fuck what. Are you pissed you guys didn't swoop? I bet you are. Once again, I'll refer to other guys from the wire in the past. Yeah, Evan Longoria sucks. And not to mention through all this that while I know Teixera will turn it around and have a good year he is having the worst April in his entire career and he's hitting .156. You guys act like I'm giving away players I was thinking about dumping or something. You don't think my team takes a hit? Now that it's a month in there's no one left to pick up, you kidding me? I will have to fill those guys spots with actual garbage.

Also, I really liked it when you tried to rip on Franklin who has the best numbers out of all my closers and make it seem like it's Texeira for Franklin straight up by saying saves are overrated. I agree in the respect that when drafting you should wait on closers and not use a high pick on them but at this point in the year good luck finding saves. And when your team is without a closer, that "inflated value" rises. Also, let me remind you guys that I offered up Haren initially, so Jake when you say that I 'raped' Stein not only does it water down your argument and show lots of disrespect on your part but it's almost like you didn't read that part of the post from before and based on your shaky argument I'm wondering if you even read it at all.

Once again, if you are going to come at me and in Jakes case verbally attack me, come with facts. Leave your opinionated bullshit at home. You look dumb when you try to win an argument with opinions. That's why in court they call that heresay and it's dismissed from the record.

And if everyone agrees and the trade doesn't go through fine, I will be perfectly fine with keeping those guys, I actually would be more than OK with it because I already have 2 1B and my pitching is sick with those guys. You do realize I offered Haren and Stein didn't want him right? That's this mindset of preseason rank value, it's retarded bullshit.

I don't understand why everyone doesnt stop crying about this fucking trade, it was my decision and kurts no one elses its our two teams. Personally I am getting sick of leaving a guy in my lineup who gets to fucking hits a week and forces me to leave guys on the bench who can actually fucking hit. The players I got in return are truly not the greatest players ever but guess what they are having much more productive seasons that fucking teixiera. Everyone tells me hell come around, hes a slow fucking starter well how long does a slow start last, what if he goes big papi on the season and stays this way all year.

The pitchers I got well at least help me a little and I dont even have a closer so at least no I have a chance in the saves category, so everyone stop picking on Kurt like he sold Harry's dead bird petey to the blind kid. Im not in a wheelchair saying pretty bird, I knew the trade and decided to make it.

Not to mention the fact that everyone else could have offered something for teixiera he was out there for everyone kurt was just the one who pulled the trigger.

Overall, my thought is its my team what I do with it is up to me, especially since, no offense kurt, were in the fucking bottom of the league not like were the two superpowers trading rock stars to pad each others team, leave us alone and worry about your own teams.

Well, like I had said earlier via FB, I was directing most of those comments at Jake who took it on himself to turn it into more than a discussion about a trade but instead into a personal attack at me and in turn Stein as well.

I thank Stein for telling his side of the story so you guys will quit labeling me as 'shady' and 'fag'.

There was never any shady or underhanded shit going on and for me, that's the stuff that pisses me off. Not liking a trade and calling out my character to everyone are two completely different things. I can accept trade criticism and I will defend every trade I have done and will ever do. But when people come after me personally then I have no choice but to fire back with super long messages.

You could argue that we call eachother fags and talk about having sex with eachothers mothers but Jakes post had a lot more malicious tone to it. 'Naj is a fag' is running almost inside joke reserved to him because his team is the shit, it's in good nature and if you, the league and naj want it to stop it will. We all know naj does not have sex with men. It's a joke.

And I hardly consider my posts to be whining. I'm defending my point of view and as of recently, my character.

With all that said, I encourage everyone to speak out about trades and what happens in our league but I do ask that if you are going to you keep the conversation about fantasy baseball and quit making it seem like I'm commiting horrible acts against humanity.

I trade, I trade a lot. Sometimes they're good, sometimes they're bad. But I never go at a trade looking to fuck someone over. That's a shitty thing to do to people and something I have never done.

If, I was a doctor I would diagnose kurt with Acute Trade Anxiety ATA for short. Kurt has so much anxiety that he feels overwhelmed to make a trade immediately or else. The "else" is the mystery here or rather the acute part of the equation of his diagnoses.
I think this is all coming to light now that he has without intent swindle, one one-sided trade through the intention of getting a trade and not a great value. Although in these circumstances he got much greater value from one and in my opinion two. Still, both were willing participents in Kurt's ritualistic corting of his beloved trade.
His victims he finds everywhere willing to bargain and trade with him. This goes back many seasons and many sports serving no purpose but the high of the trade, not forfilling anything but a short lived high kurt receives after the intial trade agreement.
Point in being is we can't change the person that he is for this I know and you should know as well of people. The answer for this situation is the vote. why the fuck is it even their when I have never seen it used or work to get a shitty trade shot down? We live in a democracy and we have the tools to fairly speak out and strike down these trades. Lets finally vote and get things dealt with.

Sucks. Once again I have trade away a top 50 player for garbage. Also I don't know anyone else caught the game last week where aramamsda gave up not one but two home-runs to the garbage soxs to blow the save. Joe, we've already had this discussion but I'll repeat it on here so the rest of the league can get the complete perspective.

You wanna sit there and bitch about the trade, that's fine. But let's get the facts straight. You had been shopping Haren around all year - and justifiably so. You, by the luck of the draw, drafted an ace pitching staff. No one could have predicted that Liriano would regain his 2006 form and you got him in God knows how late of a round. But that doesn't even matter.

So as this trade went down I brought up to you for what was probably like the 6th time, 'who do you want for Haren?' At that point you said the only player you wanted was Rajai. At the time Rajai was on fire, hitting well and leading the league in steals. As my primary speed guy I didn't want to give him up but that's how it goes when doing trades. After you had established that the task was figuring out another player to make it even. I looked at your team and noticed that you only had one active closer, K-Rod who in my opinion kinda is not so good (2008 was 2 years ago) Anyway, I said to you, I'll give you Rajai and you can pick a closer between Aardsma and Cordero, who at the time were both on fire and ranked in like top 30. You opted to go with Aardsma, which makes me think you're racist because he's white and Cordero is black, but that's another story. So there we had it. I got Haren, and you got Rajai and Aardsma.

Now just yesterday you start bitching at me about the trade and how I'm a douche and all this. I find it funny that it comes right after Haren pitches a gem. Well Joe, that's going to happen. Haren is good, this is old news. The thing is, you weren't bitching after the start before that... Why? Because he gave up 7 ER's. This again is besides the point.

The point I'm trying to make is that before the trade, Rajai and Aardsma were both on fire and both rated in the top 50. At the same time Haren was ranked somewhere in the 200's (after his 7 ER effort it was the 300's) So at the time of the trade the value's matched up and because of your strong SP and lack of a 2nd closer, you got help where you needed it and I got a good SP, an area I needed.

If after the trade Rajai has started slumping, that's not my fault or the fault of the trade, that sort of thing just happens. Also, you are essentially calling Aardsma garbage because he blew a save. Well, Joe, except for Brad Lidge in 2008, closers are going to blow saves here and there. Aardsma is still a beast and the best closer you have because K-Rod sucks.

And that's all I have to say about that.

I more than anyone know first hand about trading for a player who's hot only to have them fail at life once they're on my team.

In 2008 I traded away Hanley Ramirez to get Edinson Volquez. Up unitl the point I got him, was sick. He had like 10 wins, a whip under 1.00 and and ERA under 2.00 - and that was all the way up to the break.

As soon as I get him on my team he completely unraveled. He Lost like 75% of his remaining starts while inflating his whip and ERA.

Hanley went on to be Hanley.

Guys I obviously am not like everyone else in this league that is clear. Sorry Andy if I called you sad and stupid indirectly, for that I apologize. My point is I think Kurt could have made his point in less then 250 words. Personally I'm more long winded then anyone in this league, and if you actually know me I will talk forever and sometimes not even have a point. So when I open a post and its triple the size of a typical post I get sick to my stomach. So since the vote came down to a tie, I am making a commissioner's decision to declare the buy in as 25 dollars, plus $1 extra for each category for a total of $36.

Each person who wins a category wins $12. Win multiple categories, win multiple $12.
